GENERAL RULES AND GUIDELINES FOR COMPETITION

 

1.The Alessandro Giuliani Violin Competition welcomes participants of any nationality.

2. Participants may register and participate in more than one division. Each participant is allowed to register in up to 3 Divisions.

3. A complete list of the requirements (Proof of Payment, Photo ID/Passport, Registration Form) must be submitted by the 1st of December 2019.

4. Prize winners (1st, 2nd and 3rd) of each categories will compete in Singapore for the Final Round on January 2020 and are required to perform the same pieces as the Preliminary Rounds. Any change in piece(s) must be approved prior to the Final Round. Travel, accommodation and other related costs are to be borne by the contestant. The Application Fee for the Final Round is separate from the Application Fee for the Thailand Round.

5. Cuts in the music are not acceptable; repeats are not necessary; arrangements and transcriptions should be avoided.


6. Participants are not required to perform the pieces from memory.


7. JUNIOR (≤9 YEARS OLD) Born after 1/1/10

- 1 piece of candidate's choice (not more than 4 minutes)

INTERMEDIATE (≤14 YEARS OLD) Born after 1/1/05

- 1 piece of candidate's choice (not more than 7 minutes)

SENIOR (≤19 YEARS OLD) Born after 1/1/00

- 1 piece of candidate's choice (not more than 10 minutes)


8. Participants may be stopped during the performance if chosen repertoire and performance timings exceed the allotted performance duration.


9. Participants are required to provide piano accompaniment for the Live Round of the competition (at his/her own cost).


10. There will be no refunds given to any parties participating in the competition.


11. Decisions made by the judging panel are final.


12. The order of performances will be determined by the organisers.


13. ALL participants will receive certificates of participation. All winners must collect their awards in person.

14. 3 prizes will be awarded per category and the Grand Prize of one Alessandro Giuliani Full-sized Violin will be awarded to the overall winner from the 3 categories of the Alessandro Giuliani International Violin Competition.
